Malaysia - DAY 1
4:15pm - i'm exhausted. so tired. just drove for 3hours straight. my backs gonna break. if i were driving christine's bora, id have like perfect posture by now. haha. gave up driving after mom and pop made a huge fuss about mom not looking to see the ipoh exit. She was asleep la! how can my dad blame her. and he was behind reading his book. rah! just coz he had enough rest. though the detour wasnt that great, it was too stressful to drive since everyone kept complaining. and the roads were ridiculously complicated. we werent on a super highway with like just one particular exit. we were on the normal highway with like about, say, 6 lanes with every lane leading to some other town. KL's tricky man. so complicated.
so i gave up, but thats alright. at least i getta lament..haha..
the trip didnt even start too well. i refused to succumb to slumber fearing that i wont wake up in time. This trip aint just for myself, i need to be there to take care of my parents. i cant let them drive themselves all the way to the faraway land. my mom would probably die from driving. so when mom came in about 6am, i thought we could leave and she said dad only wanted to leave at 11 coz of some mighty important phonecall he has to make at 10. bahh! so much for not sleeping.
went to bed after watching the sunrise. not very much of a sunrise. say, sky brightening up more like it. haha.
woke at 11 and got rushed out of the house. got to the car and slept all the way till we passed customs. it was so majorly jammed. strange for a monday morning. and the weather was sorching HOT! i felt so eeky and sweaty in the back seat. rah. well, they were apparently doing checks for everyone and my mom kinda freaked when she found out coz we were carrying a load of my dads books for sale and the remnants of alpha6, the health detox product. they'd definately question us and tax us even if they found out. but God graciously came to the rescue and they let our car pass without even checking for gas. amazing! mom was like saying, yeah...coz we've got an old man on board. haha. funny. so yay! we got through. and that was awesome.
its so unfair. saw so many places i wanted to stop at. didnt know they had baskin' robbins in malaysia. and we passed by A&W too! my favourite. but we're in a rush for a dinner tonight before pop starts his seminar tmr. how upsetting. why couldnt i stop for my curly fries if pop could stop to get guava. boo hoo!
its pouring again. but aint as bad as just now when i was at the wheel. couldnt even see past a metre. had to judge the distance of passing cars by their headlights. thankfully they switched their headlights on. if not, its mamamia for me...haha. ~later!
7:30 - got here not too long ago. the mosquitoes are bitting the hell out of me. urgh! this is mozzie land i tell u. they're gonna have a buffet tonight man. what if i get dengue. ooh..
everything's still pretty much the same. more wedding photos, family photos had been added up to the photo wall. so that looks pretty good. my parents generation of wedding photos are clearly faded. u can barely see them standing there in the photos anymore. haha.
im still getting bitten. urgh!
the ride here was pretty ridiculous. so so long. and we almost crashed the car a billion times. it wasnt too good. the thing about kampongs is that the roads are very badly lit and dangerous since everyone's trying to cut past the huge lorries. so when u overtake, when everyones already travelling on at least 110km/h, it might not look too good. and its on a two way two laner road as well. scary man.
whatever it is, we're still safe, and thats what matters most i guess. my dad had shown me his driving skills. an authentic malaysian driver indeed! haha.
we were greeted by one of the most beautiful sunsets ive ever seen. it spanned across the entire horizon, behind the huge palm plantations. and because of the heavy rain, when the clouds cleared, it looked like strokes of a paintbrush. awesome. so picturesque. haha. picture perfect.
so now im here, in my dads kampong, where i grew up. but it still feels pretty weird. all the cousins are gone, off to study. House is a tad too quiet. Ahwell..off i am for dinner and some chiku plucking later. hahaha. yay!!
10:15 - waiting for ben to call. he's taking forever..so sad.. :(
i'm pretty awake. really wonder how im gonna get to sleep tonight. rah. sleep so much in the car it seems almost impossible to fall asleep. i might just read the chinese papers to treat my insomia. haha.
insects keep falling on my head. like seriously. and every other part of my body. little tiny fly like things, white coloured flies, green coloured flies, strange looking tiny beetle like stuff. and when i look up at the ceiling, im greeted with the usual occupants. the ceiling mafia, what we used to call, is like a giant gang of house lizards. haha. they rock the ceiling man, keeping most insects away. i can easily count like 10 above my head. and they aint ur usual tiny lizards. theyve been feasting every night so they're pretty big. haha.
i'm pretty impressed by myself. i still remember what switch is for what. and where the switches are. the house is so empty now. and bare even coz of my stupid uncle. the one in giant debts that caused the entire family, my dads side, to go down with him. its been so many years and he still hasnt changed. his children are all over the place, henry being one of them. its terrible i tell u. and he only cares about his 2 useless kids that feed on his money. while the other two, henry and the other, are mugging for a better future. and he gives them so much money. its ridiculous. he has borrowed hundred of thousands from everyone, including my aunty, lost the two giant mango plantations that my dad and him bought, lost the huge piece of land that my aunty painstakingly cared for and made a fruit plantation of, had 4 wives and none with him now, lost 2 pieces of fantastic property, one in KL and another in the upper class area of this kampong. its crazy. and he didnt even sell the houses. which he could have and made a fortune of. instead, he left it there to rot, allowed people to loot and plunder off him. one was taken back by the bank, and the other, burnt down. forced my aunty to run out of desperation and had her mango store burnt down by loansharks. sheesh. how stupid. argh..aint worth going on...
dinner was fantastic. its a family thing. ive got 5 aunties on my dads side and all of them can cook fantastically well. its really really really really really really really gooooooooooooooooooood food. and there was this fish that was so so good! oh man. its so simply fried, but the skin turned out really really crispy and the meat extremely soft. ahhh..lovely indeed. and i love how the world outside is our dustbin. haha. the dogs will feast on them. yayy...and my favourite cat is still here. chickens are now at the back instead of running freely, and the rabbits have all gone into our tummy as rabbit herbal soup. YUM but terribly bitter. haha.
dont know how im gonna get to bed, but i will. the insects are annoying me like crazy. please pray that i dont get bitten too much by the mozzies. rah..night!
