scooting on the bayliner 335
i've never left for dayang on an early friday morn,
never touched the sand up there way before dawn.
i've never had to be the crew for a $400,000 boat
nor pump a dinghy up with air to made sure it stayed afloat.
i've never had to cook dinner in that dingy little kitchen,
never seen the island empty while i sat next to dayang's little kitten
i've never played taboo there and screamed so much at night
nor got away with the screaming, much less put up with a fight
i've never woke up on time to do my obligatory morning calls,
never witnessed such easy rescue scenarios that left me absolutely appalled.
i've never seen so much in a dive right at the tip,
nor a white tip reef shark that almost made me flip!
i've never seen the island vacated before 10am,
never seen the rain pour down like an overflooded dam.
i've never showered with rain water straight from the gutter,
nor seen the locals shoo us off while they grumbled and mutter.
i've never had to make sure we had enough food for the way home.
never had to pray that hard for safety and shalom.
i've never slept through a ride that threw me off my seat,
but i'll rather hide in the cabin from the sun and never say defeat!
so many things could have gone wrong but it strangely did not.
murphy must have taken off or perhaps he plainly forgot.
but most of all it wouldnt have been what it was if the people were different,
the diversity and differences made it all so brilliant.
