good morning world
i just got back from a 3hour morning walk and breakfast with pop. it was good, refreshing. and the weather today couldnt get any better. it was so so cold! we started at 530am. and got to the top of mt faber at 6. surprisingly, we werent the only ones up that early. could see other old folkies up too. amazing. never knew mt faber gets busy so early in the morn.
so my dad tried to teach me his version of tai qi. he calls it the wai dan gong. as in, directly translated - outer gall bladder kung fu. hahaha.
anyone who has seen that video i took of my dad would agree on how stupid it looks. but my dad seems to love it. and he insisted that i tried it. so i did. was fun acting dumb so early in the morning. and the weather was too good to bother about how id look. so yay! it was awesome.
did some static exercises while pop carried on. leaves kept smacking into my face because the winds were way too strong. and i couldnt stop taking in deep deep breaths coz the air smelt so crisp and fresh. wished i'd brought a camera up with me. the view was amazing. like, to my left, was all shades of blue, to my right, all shades of red.. and in the middle where they met, it was way purple. gorgeous. and the clouds were heavy and thick and low. and we could feel the rain coming closer. like you'd see one part of singapore, and the next, it vanishes coz the rain had gotten to it.
we sat by a little shelter thingy and talked about everything. about ben, about sch, about his clients and the weird sucidal lady he counselled yesterday. then i suddenly realised that my dad reminded me so much of aunt may. as in aunt may from spiderman. haha, old people whose words lacquered with wisdom. savour it while you can aye.
we prayed for many things. for eva's grandad who's still in the icu, for rod to feel the joys of being single, for ben and his op and for a ton of other stuff. and yes, for the rain to stop too. and it was comforting to know that my dad will probably always be the best person ever to tell stuff to, because i'm sure he has seen/heard/smelt it all.
thosai was horrid this morning. the shop opposite my old house just failed to satisfy anymore.
i should do this more often with pop. maybe next time, the camera's coming along with me.
