jetlagged
i cant believe im up! its only 630am, paris time. it'd be 1230 in singapore. which isnt good to be this awake. that means my body hasnt really gotten into the whole paris time zone thing. ugh. last night, we crashed at about 2. that means, we went to bed around 8am sing time. haha. i love how this time difference thing works. seems to buy us more time in paris. yay!
so ive been here. less than a day, officially. alls been really good so far. the weather has been ok i guess. not really cold. just nice. comfortably nice. it gets really chilly at night with the winds, but in the day and stuff, its like walking around in airconditioning. say, 17degrees. but it gets strangely warm and sunny at around 4-5pm. haha. weird.
i really really would love to live here for long. the apartments rather pretty. cosy and tight but pretty. and theres a really really giant cat living downstairs. will post up pictures of that dude. i took like a million of him. but i hardly had a good shot coz everytime i squatted down to take a pic, he'd start walking towards me. i get like strange up close shots. haha. how adorable.
i really should document my trip.
alright.
so it goes..
we caught our flight at 323am sing time. flight to dubai. it was really really bad. like the seats looked so big and comfy but there were barely anything close to it. it was strangely hard and uncomfortable. my flight to dubai wasnt great. and it was so early in the morning. everyone was tired and grouchy. toilets were smelly. entertainment was extremely limited. and the seats were rockhard. it was crowded. food was constantly cold. (and i do love airplane food, in case you needed to know). thought alot better of emirates. even though their service was still unmistakably good.
we got to dubai at around sevenish in the morning, dubai time. (11plus sg time) the airport looked like a giant shopping mall. ive got pictures to prove. haha. they even had like the miami-ish looking coconut trees in their airport. ahha. speaking of which, the land spans out till like forever. you barely see a tall building. at least not from where i was standing. we woke up to the awesome sunrise on the plane. and it seemed to last forever. like it was really really really looonggggggggg... it was so pretty. but we couldnt enjoy it much. centre seats. and the plane cameras werent working. darn it.
we went back on board at 8ish. the flight to paris was a million times better. service was better too. we had dubai papers to read. had 2 breakfasts and lunch on board. we had 400 over channels to blast my face with. and it was on my command. like each channel played just one movie/drama series/cartoon whichever. so theres like a play and pause button. i basically watched like every episode they had of simpsons, scrubs, CSI and a ton of random movies. even caught just like heaven on the plane. i love emirates.
i had an empty seat next to mee too. so it was good. we were on the last row. so we could push our chairs back as far as we wanted to. had extra pillows and blankets and more games to play too. the essentials for a long flight. had a ton of juice. and all was good. yay. haha. glor was a happy girl.
we got to paris, the airport was tiny and congested. at least the terminal we were at was tiny and congested. apparently its really huge. but they should really do up the place. it'd be nice. theres like 3 terminals. terminal 2 itself already had like A-F in it. haha. just imagine.
we had to squeeze with a ton of arsenal fans that just flew in for the game yesterday. everyone was in there arsenal jerseys. it was pure madness. but that was just the beginnnig of it.
gracie picked us up, though after getting lost for quite a bit. she very kindly bought us tickets so we took the bus down to the metro, the line that went straight home. and it was amazing! we passed by the stadium on the bus. it was pACKED to the brim. everyone was lining up to get in already. it was arsenal vs barcelona, finals. everyone was screaming and cheering. haha.
when we got off, we were greeted by the crowds. like massive crowds, out gathering on the roads, sitting at the bars. they even had to have crowd control police. everyone was singing, cheering with their beers high up in the air. it was really football hooligans live straight up in your face. haha. i love..
took the metro and we finally got to their place. tiny but really cosy and pretty. we were pleasantly surprised with jans million and one cakes and all. haha. it was crazy. we were stuffed full with her superlicious cakes and pastries. a pity yesterday was her last practical. it would have been better, but a load more fattening as well. haha. we had welcome strawberries that were half my palm size and extremely sweet too. yum!
random note....... its really funny.. its 7am. jan has to pick dan up at 8 plus at the airport, and there are at least 5 alarms going off right now. haha.
anyway
gracie daph and i decided to walk out to the laundry to get the sheets dried out. i could really live here. ahhh....... its funny. the first actual thing we did when we got here was to do the laundry. haha. and of course, dodging dogshit. haha. dumped the stuff back in and headed out to walk around. most of the shops were closing by the time we got down to the main area. its really covenient and easily accessible. almost everywhere is linked up by the metro. im in love with the architecture here. ahh..
we walked through tiny shops, and giant supermarkets. theyve got glorious food everywhere! argh! and its cafeland here. haha. pure maddness. and their alcohols really cheap. like 4euros for a 6pack of hoegaarden??? or 3euros for a bottle of red wine, merlot. haha. heavenly.
we bumped into jan at the metro. so we headed out to the korean place they wanted to bring us to. food was excellent. i reallly couldnt describe it more. its a million times better than all the korean food ive had in my life combined together. i was really really really good.
we headed back and by the time we got back, daph and i were so jetlagged it was funny. haha. i really need to get back to sleep.
'later!
