Malaysia - DAY 2
9:30am - so im up. what a lazy morning it had been. was crowed awake by the bloody roosters running outside. they started at 6am. so my mom woke up first. when i couldnt take it at 8, i got out of bed. 8's only good for saturdays for swimming. not when im at the kampong when no ones home.
mom and pop had to setttle some stuff for the seminar. had breakfast at the table whilst reading. a book titled 'where the heart is' an easy read but it has over 400 pages. the thought of it makes me sleepy. i should have brought my GTA along. haha. but readings good i guess. had milo, a half boiled egg and 2 of my dads home town biscuit bread thingies. theyre hard, and a little crunchy especially if rebaked, with a little meat and a lot of onion in it. u wont like it if u were trying it for the first time. ive fed on that since i was a little girl. so alls good.
i had intended to do my therepeutic boiling water. haha. we always helped to boil water at the firewood stove. where u gotta wait for the wood to burn up, fan as hard as u can, and add more wood. sadly, my aunty had gotten new gas stoves. those portable ones. so the firewood stove's out. :(
ive been sitting in my favourite chair all morning, reading. not really all morning since its only been an hour. haha. i shall try to wake up at this time everyday when im back at home. i love this chair. its the ah gong chair. i think u still can see a few in singapore. the very old rubber seated, metal framed chair. i wanted to take a couple of shots of this place just in case they redevelop it in time to come. coz so many of our old neighbours have moved out and theyre building new houses in. the kampongs going. so sad. this house has been around for more than 70 years! even longer i bet.
rah..stupid chickens are making irirtating noises. the crickets at night didnt even keep me up. i bet its coz of the training ive got at home from my dads cricket farm. haha. my cameras out. need new batteries. rahh. hope i can shoot this place down by the time my parents get back with the batts. haha!
10:11am - yayy!! just comfirmed that im going up genting and down KL with my mom later. haha.. shoppping shopping shopppping..and cool weather! yay.. though im pretty much enjoying the chickens, roosters and what nots here, and that the weather's already pretty cool here, i could really use some shopping time with mom. haha. im such an urban chick..uh..girl. haha.
ran around to catch some chicks to seperate them, before they get trampled and killed outside. so cute! haha.
10:27am - YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!! i just got called up for an interview as a marketing executive at singapore explorer, wherever that is. haha. interview's on wednesday but im stuck in my dads kampong. hahah. just took a few pictures with my phone. bad pics but it'll do. haha. so happy. gonna drive out to pick up some batteries. im gonna drive my aunty's kancil. hahhaa. if i get into an accident, id be squished from shoulder to shoulder. Such a tiny car! haha. yayy!
i really need batts man. while driving here yesterday, saw really really interesting cloud cover. real thick and fluffy. and i saw a man in the sky. haha...or so i thought. clouds that is. when i looked at it carefully, it looked like a HUGE cross sitting on a fluff of clouds. it was awesome! so wanted a pic. but camera was out and i was at the wheel. haha. Gods watching over us indeed!
haha..the girl just called back. what a nice lady. brushed her off since i wont be able to make it for the interview and she called back saying she spoke to her manager and anytime next week's good. yay! haha. my market rate's pretty high aye! sent out resume in the morning of my departure and i get called straight away. haha. yayy..PRAISE GOD!
2:29pm - the doggie keeps looking at me through the gate. so annoying. haha. and when i go near it, it flees. such a freaky dog. worse than mona. haha.
just had lunch. had mee sua. hockchia styled. its fantastic. super herbal..i likee...haha. and has all the tiny red thingys. they call it 'hong zhao'. i remembered last time when we were younger, my aunty would cook that for breakfast as a drink. a morning herbal drink. hated it but my sister loved it. strange. its apparently really good for ur eyesight.
went groceries shopping at the 'city' side just now. FAJAR. haha..like hongzhen's sec school. maybe ur school's a franchise of the supermarket. haha. bought quite a bit. and a load of pads. theyre darn cheap la. bought like RM50 over bucks of pads. which is like..about 7 packs of 20s. hahha...i like i likee...
didnt know theyve got a new coupon system now. as in..last time u can park anywhere u like..but now u gotta put coupon. we didnt know, so we got fined. but mom ripped the summon up and threw it out the window. U GO MOM! so coolio...haha. she said no one would know la. and msia's so corrupted..who would bother. haha.
driving on the roads here take guts. traffic comes from everywhere. there aint even lines on the road, even on the bigbig roads in the so called 'city' side. just gotta think straight, and hopefully ud drive straight. haha.
we passed by these really tall towers, well, tall for a kampong that is. its like, 5 stories high of concrete with alot of gaps here and there. mom told me theyre for encouraging swallows to built their nests there since its high up and have little dark gaps. then theres a stairway up on the inside where they collect the nests for birds nest. i didnt know yan wuo came from swallows. until i thought of xiao yan zhi from huan zhu ge ge. haha. yan wuo..yan zhi..
gonna have to fetch my mom to get a haircut. guys, its cheaper than ur army baldie shave. its RM2. i remember cutting hair there. haha. ONCE ever..and i didnt quite like it. i can cut myself too la. but that was when i was a kid and hair didnt matter as much. But I hated wasting the RM2 that could buy us a load of firecrackers back then. or like 20 ice popsicles. or 10 bottles of bottled fizzy drinks since it costs only RM0.20 per bottle in my da gu's shop. haha.
brings back so many memories coming back here. haha. gotta go pick my little cousin up. yes, the destructive one who used to throw rocks and whip us with a water pipe when we didnt want him to tag along. or used a huge scissors to cut up caterpillars into tiny pieces. or who squatted by the toilet hose to stab irritating toads that jumped in and out with the kitchen knife, and squished baby bunnies alive 'accidentally', or so he claims. haha. my time spent here when i was a kid, with him, was a torture. it was very much a killer back then. haha..now hes so tall and big though still very spoilt.
gonna go drive around to take pictures later. yay..me and my lousy photography skills, lets see what we can get..haha..
9:03pm - its only nine, and everyones pretty much in bed already. my moms sleeping beside me. can u hear her snore? it's so loud, it can surely penetrate my laptop and send out snore waves through the world wide web. haha. its like in australia, pple turning in so early. but i guess its like that everywhere else. isnt it? places where no night life exist. once night falls, sky darkens, people have dinner, sit around for abit. catch a little tv, catch up with one another and hit the sacks. maybe thats why pple who live in such places have such large families. haha. food for thought.
if i was in singapore, i would probably not be home yet. either having dinner with ben, catching a movie. doing last minute shopping before the shutters slam straight in my face. sitting around somewhere with a drink or two with the b10ners. yeah..time to do something different about my life aye. getting too predictable.
the interview call today was interesting. it was totally unexpected. and i still dont know what company it is that I had applied for. we'd see when i get back that is. i think its for the singapore DUCK or HIPPO tours. haha. yay! i can be their mascot. i can be the hippo, as what ben would say. haha.
i still havent touched my bible. ive been glued to a book called 'where the heart is'. perfect book for the perfect environment that im living in. very country, laid back styled of writing and content. ive finished a third of the book. and no, the book isnt 3 pages long. hmmph! its close to 400 pages. and having to accomplish a third, for a slow reader like me who never ever barely ever touch books, is quite a feat. so yay! i presume id finish it in at least another two days or so. ive got a long ride down to genting tmr morning. so we'd see about that. i might just spend the ride, sleeping, as what id usually do. haha.
i had beetles in my hair just now. u know when night falls when u start seeing insects falling on u. or using u as a helicopter pad to land and take off after a second. well, i had the normal beetles, those about 1.5cm long, the golden coloured type, like a fleet of them, fall on my head. who knows what they were thinking when they dived right in. im thankful it aint the kongermonger. haha. thats what we call the giant rhino beetle here. its funny how us, cousins, derived with that name. so if u wanna know, ask. FYI, its about, well, usually 2-3 inches long. with rhino like horns. so no fun. uh uh...dont play with such stuff. and when they flap their wings, the sound of it can kill. its so scary, ur heart can stop in shock.
ran quite a bit of errands today. apart from the load of reading i did, sitting in my favorite chair, and supermarketing, sent mom to get her hair cut, ran through the back dirt path to get to the mechanic, which is my dads cousin or somehow related. hes gonna get the car a spray job. pretty sad though, it was a historic and needless to say, traumatic event that took place, having to bash the car into a pillar. now i cant do slight scratches without having been caught. oh dearie.
driving through the dirt path was fun. reminded me of all the times i travelled into the mango plantation in a jeep. haha. too bad it didnt last for long.
picked my dad up after the seminar, and we came back straight home coz i promised my aunty id help her with her super famous potatoballs. haha. its so yummy its amazing. its yet another hockchia dish. its fantastic man. but i didnt get back in time to help her chop up and knead the potato dough.
was chasing the chickens around in the front and suddenly a pack of dogs came in from the road. one tiny fella, maybe the size of a JRT, ran in and grabbed a teenage chick. haha. that sounded wrong. the freakish dog dashed up and kinda fought with that one dog then the whole pack kinda growled at him so yeah..poor freaker..now i know why hes like that. haha. poor chick too! :(
i stil havent gotten pictures of my swallow tower. will do tmr, i hope. if i have the time that is. bus is at 11am. gotta pack and i still wanna do a run. probably be up by 8 again. last night poured so it was kinda cold. hope tonight wouldnt get too stuffy! NIGHT!
